
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police have identified the suspect wanted for shooting and killing a woman he was dating in a housing complex near Sharpstown on Friday night.

According to the Houston Police Department, patrol officers responded to the shooting call at New Hope Housing, located at 6015 Dale Carnegie Lane, at about 7:50 p.m.
Officers said they found a woman, identified as 44-year-old Ladana Murrell, with a gunshot wound in an apartment entrance doorway. Officials said that Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene, where they pronounced Murrell dead.
According to HPD, a witness told officers that Murrell and a man, identified as 46-year-old Michael D. Franklin, were in a physical fight before it escalated into a shooting. Franklin fled the scene after the shooting, officers said.
Investigators said that Franklin and Murrell were in a dating relationship.
HPD said officers are still searching for Franklin, who was charged with murder. Police said anyone with information on the whereabouts of Franklin, or in this case, is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
